Hazards and PPE
List a machine's hazards and required PPE, see what a tech reads before clocking in, how often the card shows up, and where the record of who read it is kept.
Every machine has its own dangers and its own gear. LockLedger lets your company write those down once, per machine, and puts them in front of a tech at the moment they clock in on a ticket for it. When they tap to say they have read it, LockLedger keeps a record of who read what, and when.
- Admins and Managers
- List a machine's hazards, PPE and note, and see who has read them. A Manager works with the machines at their own sites.
- Techs
- Read the card when they clock in on a ticket for the machine. They can read the card but do not see the list of who read it.
1. List a machine's hazards and PPE (Admin or Manager)
The video also shows how to add a machine's isolation points, which Lockout/tagout covers. The Hazards and PPE part starts at 1:04. You choose from fixed lists, so every machine reads the same way: sixteen hazards, from pinch point and rotating parts to hot surface, arc flash, noise and confined space, and twelve kinds of PPE, from safety glasses and hearing protection to gloves and a respirator. If something does not fit a list, use the note. A machine with nothing listed shows no card at all, so you can add machines one at a time.
- 1
Open the machine in Equipment
From the home screen, open
Equipment, search for the machine and pick it. - 2
Open the Hazards & PPE section
Open
Hazards & PPE. It stays closed on a machine with nothing listed. It saves on its own, apart from the machine'sEditandSubmitbuttons. - 3
Choose the hazards
Tap each hazard that applies. A chosen one turns dark and shows a check mark. Tap it again to remove it.
- 4
Choose the required PPE
Do the same for the gear a person needs at this machine.
- 5
Add a note, if you need one
The
Note (optional)box takes up to 1,000 characters for anything specific to this machine. - 6
Press Save hazards and PPE
Saved.appears beside the button. The button stays off until you change something.
2. What a tech sees
When someone taps Clock In on a ticket for a machine that has hazards or PPE listed, a card opens first. It is titled Before you start, followed by the machine's name, then its hazards, the required PPE, and the note if there is one. The clock-in goes through only after they tap I've read this, clock in. Closing the card without tapping it leaves them not clocked in.
The card is shown once per person, per machine, per day. The day is the calendar day in the site's time zone, so the card comes back the next morning. If an Admin or Manager changes that machine's hazards, PPE or note during the day, everyone sees the card again with the update, even if they already read it earlier. If the list changes while someone has the card open, LockLedger shows them the updated card instead of saving a record for a list they did not see.
The clock-in is refused until the card has been read
The check is made on the server, not only on the screen, so a clock-in that skips the card is turned away.
3. See who read it (Admin or Manager)
Each tap on I've read this, clock in is saved as a record: the person, the time, the ticket, and a snapshot of exactly what the card said at that moment. The snapshot stays true even after the list changes later. Times are shown in your own time zone. You can see the records in two places.

A record cannot be edited once it is saved. Deleting a ticket removes the records that belong to it.
This is what your company listed, not a hazard assessment
The card shows hazards and PPE as listed by your company. LockLedger does not decide what a job needs, and a record that someone read the card is not a compliance claim. The hazards and PPE for each machine are only as good as what your safety people put in.
